I served on the Board of Education with Dennis for many years. I have laughed, argued, labored, prayed, and volunteered with him as both a colleague and friend. This man is committed to the success and well-being of Tallmadge and its residents. One of the things that I most appreciated about working with Dennis was his ability to consider all sides of an issue before making a decision. He was able to put aside his own personal views, to support shared goals and visions. Whether we agreed, or not, Dennis was collaborative and respectful. As Mayor, Dennis will bring a depth of knowledge about the community, its people, schools, city administration, and economic development to work on your behalf. I had the pleasure of working with Dennis Loughry for several years on development and retention of businesses within the Brimfield Tallmadge Joint Economic District [JEDD]. Working as a team with Portage County and the state of Ohio officials, the number of new businesses increased significantly and with hard work and due diligence Dennis helped save and retain some businesses from leaving the township.
Two major accomplishments that Dennis participated in was the highly competitive aspect of having Rubbermaid coming to Brimfield and “saving” and retaining a large printing company that was purchased by an out of state corporation that was planning on moving the facility out of state. Bringing his skills in development and negotiations, and working in a true team effort with Brimfield, Portage County, and the State of Ohio the business remains as a thriving business in the JEDD community. Both companies each employ over 200 people and both contribute significantly in payroll and corporate net profit dollars to the Brimfield Tallmadge JEDD. With his experience and knowledge of the workings of local government, Dennis will be a great asset for the City of Tallmadge. I support him for Mayor.
