Dennis Loughry's 5 Economic Development Points

Incentive Program

I am dedicated to reinstating the incentive program that I designed during my tenure as Economic Development Director. This program offers rewards to our top-performing companies for their outstanding contributions to job creation. Unfortunately, this program was discontinued by the current administration after my departure.

Strategic Approach

We are taking a strategic approach by merging our Economic Development Director position with our Community Development role. This new Development Director will be a highly skilled grant writer with a wealth of experience in fostering job retention. Additionally, they possess valuable business connections within both the greater Akron area and Columbus.

Strong Partnerships

Our commitment extends to rekindling and strengthening our partnerships, engagement, and affiliations with organizations vital to regional Economic Development. This includes the Greater Akron Chamber (GAC), the Portage Development Board, Team NEO, and other influential regional associations.

Support Growth of JEDD

We pledge to support the growth of the Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) by reinvesting a portion of our revenues when such reinvestment is mutually advantageous for both our communities.

Targeted Investments

We're making a substantial 5% investment from our JEDD funds into targeted Economic Development programs tailored to foster the growth of Tallmadge businesses. This initiative will include a dedicated budget, the utilization of Community Improvement Corporation resources, and the establishment of an Impact Fee Project Fund.
